9mm Gatling gun

Post by CDFingers »

Is it a pistol? It is a semi-auto rifle? Is it a fully automatic weapon?
Hard to say. You could answer yes to all three.

ENTER TIPPMANN ARMORY with the solution: a small 27-inch-long, eight barrel Gatling Gun that stands 18 inches high on its wheels and is 20 inches wide. It weighs 60 pounds. A tripod is available. It is small enough to be displayed on your coffee table or desk and it is a real attention-getter.
This little gem shoots regular 9mm Luger ammo in 32-round Glock model 19 magazines. Now you can afford to have some fun with a Gatling gun! Fun is what this little gun is all about. There is nothing more fun to shoot than a machinegun, but they are heavily restricted under the National Firearms Act of 1934. Well, Gatling guns are exempt from the NFA machinegun category. They can be sold just like any manually operated rifle on a standard Form 4473. The only thing to remember is where the dealer fills out their part of the form. On section
B #16, mark “Other firearm” and under Section 27, label it simply “Firearm.”

I don't have a nine yet, so I might be a buyer, but not for $5K. And I'm in California. Still, neat but pricey.
The ProMag 50-round drum sells for $99.49, while the Beta Co. 100-round twin drum sells for $350. The Tippmann Gatling Gun sells for $5,000. That’s because there is a small output made by 20 men, as opposed to Colt mass-producing them for a large government order.

Neat, beautifully made. Wait until the gun grabbers see it, it will be banned. Not only popular with the US Army, the Brits used Gatling guns during their colonial wars.

There's actually some debate as to whether or not they are banned in CA. Technically the ones that are authentic don't meet the CA requirements to be a crank trigger, as it's a fully manual process and it is NOT a semi-automatic gun.

They lost me with the bit about the British "civilizing" the colonial populations, and trying to make the case that this is a home defense weapon is a bit hysterical.

But very cool gun.

I'm thinking "zombie apocalypse" when I see that as home defense.

though awkward in tight spaces, that would certainly defend any hallway very well.

A backyard from a deck? Again, zombies.

I don't see a good use for non-zombie home defense unless it is a very large home.

If it were a bit bigger and towable, it would offset the need to add a pair of truck nutz to my Leaf to redeem my "man card." Toddling down the freeway in my treehugger golfmobile and street sweeper. You know, just in case some asshole has parked his brodozer in my charging spot.

Defense from a meth'd out nazi biker gang perhaps? Definitely not for use in a neighborhood. But defense from evil paper on your home range in the country? Hell yeah!

Y'all are really missing the humor here. 32-round Glock model 19 magazine. But, oh! would this be a total kick.

Oh, it would be a friggin' blast to mess around with that. Home defense? Not in my 'hood.

There's no practical use for this outside of just good ol' fun, which depending on what your bank balance and stock portfolio look like, could justifiably be considered practical. Still cheaper than a cocaine addiction I guess.

A 22LR Gatling gun would just make me hunger for the 9mm one. It is a gateway gun. :)

Hard to say. You could answer yes to all three.
A pistol, by definition, is designed to be handheld; so it's not a pistol.

The definition of a rifle specifically states that it is fired from the shoulder; so it can't be a rifle.

Automatic fire is when more than a single round is fired with one pull of the trigger. I doubt that this does that.

They are specifically exempt from the NFA register.
