so crowded, so busy that i can barely cross the street. and stand out in the middle. and get out my cell-phone camera. and compose the picture. and casually stroll to the other side. oh, look! there's a car! two of them! must be a traffic jam.

That kinda quiet is downright suffocating.

I feel your pain. My neighborhood was so jam packed today that the crowds spilled over onto my porch. There were squirrels, and wrens, and sparrows. There was even a woodpecker!

I like it, like my town. When the students are in there's lots of action all over the place. During long breaks, dogs sleep in the street in my neighborhood. Last fall, turkeys.

I barely lived 6 years in North Carolina and look what it did to me!..Like a tattoo on my soul!

New Jersey's like a really ugly dog that you STILL can't help but adore. Virginia was great but...I STILL miss living in North Carolina and I left in the fall of 1983.

North Carolina is probably my first or second favorite state.

Our place is in an unincorporated area of Pinal County, 10ac.

We (read family) have been building the house for 20 years now, with no loans and doing it all ourselves.

The project pictured was working the ICF material rebar that will be the turret housing a helical stair to the 2nd floor.

A nice day overall, got a lot done.

I was raised in a town of about 400 on the north coast of Iceland and when I was 10 we moved to a farm some 20 miles out of town. Moving to a town of whole whooping 34.000 here in the states was overwhelming for me.

This is a video of almost every street in my home town.

I live on the far outskirts of a city, but it looks like a small town from my back door. :)

(OK... just my pathetic excuse to post more dog pictures)

you do not need an excuse to post dog pics, especially that beauty.
iceland- that's the place that the vikings named to keep outsiders away, unlike greenland which they named to attract people, amirite?

a skilled machinist can make good money in a place like this. know any? there's a little shopping center nearby, and the NC transportation museum, so there's stuff to do if you can stand the deafening peace and quiet.

I live in one of those places now. It took some time to make peace with living in the deep country, but now I dig it.
