First Turkey hunt today!

I didn't get one but my guide called in 4 jakes and a big tom! Didn't get them because too many trees in the way the direction they came from, then they turned away from the decoys for some reason. I had an amazing time!

+1. Working the call and bringing a suitable bird into range while staying silent and invisible is tough.

Out of curiousity, where does the hunter usually shoot the turkey? Is it usually a head shot? I'm assuming this is the case. I can imagine how much of a pain in the ass it would be to pick buckshot out of the body when cleaning it.

Yes head/neck shot. Their feathers are strong and act like a shock absorber, so body shots even with magnum turkey loads are not advised.
