:yahoo: Have fun!

One thing to remember, we're horrible enablers. Odds are that you'll try something that's totally inappropriate for concealed carry, but that you enjoy shooting anyways. It's much easier to build proficiency if you train regularly, and it's easier to train regularly if you enjoy it.

So consider buying something that you won't carry - not instead, but in addition. You can justify it for home defense, or hiking in bear country, or target shooting. All valid. Still, most carry guns aren't terribly fun or easy to shoot accurately. Accuracy is the most important thing for defensive use, more so than caliber or round count. It's okay to own more than one gun, especially if you enjoy shooting it.

And that's the story of how I got into single action revolvers.

Wait, we have those here? Sorry. I’m a transplant.

Dunno about MA, but you could probably find something across the state line in Vermont. You want to look into state laws when you cross lines, but Vermont is very libertarian about guns.

I’d try to find a local fish and game club or hunt club rather than a range per se. Here’s a bunch from Vermont. Really depend on where in western MA you are though.
