OREGON 'ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN' GAINS BALLOT TITLE FROM ATTORNEY GENERAL
The draft version stated the possession or transfer of the weapons or the magazines would be criminalized with exceptions under the initiative.
In addition to restricting assault weapons, the initiative would ban the manufacture and sale of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. Law enforcement and military personnel would be exempt.

Existing gun owners would be required to register with the state and pass criminal background checks. Failure to do so would result in criminal prosecution.

It's more that just an "AW" ban, this affects all gun owners in OR. OR Outdoor's attorneys make some good points that could be used in the campaign against this amendment.
As explained above, Petition #44 will impose strict civil liability and criminal penalties on persons and entities only tangentially related to the firearm. Accordingly, the draft results
statement should accurately inform the signer/voter that Petition #44 will affect their rights while
they own it and indefinitely thereafter.
The analysis didn't need this cheap shot:
The Attorney General's first attempt at drafting a ballot title for Petition #44 suggests she is more concerned with currying favor for her re-election bid than actually following the law.
