Parkland students' "manifesto to fix America's gun laws"

1

Our manifesto to fix America's gun laws
Ban semi-automatic weapons that fire high-velocity rounds

Civilians shouldn’t have access to the same weapons that soldiers do. That’s a gross misuse of the second amendment.

These weapons were designed for dealing death: not to animals or targets, but to other human beings. The fact that they can be bought by the public does not promote domestic tranquility. Rather, their availability puts us into the kind of danger faced by men and women trapped in war zones.

When a kid is starving or malnourished you acknowledge it but dont let them eat whatever they want. Why? Because they may know the need but they are in fact still kids and don't truly know enough to dictate what's best for them.

When a kid feels unsafe you acknowledge it but you don't let them pick and choose how the rest of the nation has to live based on their whims.

What on earth makes them think the purpose of the constitution was domestic tranquility? Who the heck would be saved by banning high velocity rounds? You can kill someone pretty easily with a 22. What military weapon is owned by what public?

Civics classes--there aren't any.

Their proposed ban could affect more rifles in American hands than people realize. Updated numbers for this are due:
Everything you know about AR15s might be a lie
This is a followup to our article reporting concerning 20+ years of FBI data, ‘assault rifle’ fatalities continue to decline.

The purpose of this article, and our previous one are to highlight just the facts – That despite becoming the overwhelmingly most popular firearm in the United States, AR15s are by and large only used by civilians for recreational activities, and that a new assault weapons ban would be extraordinarily ineffective. This, based on 20+ years of data provided by the FBI and DOJ concerning the number of crimes committed with rifles including ones like the AR15.
Now, what’s important about these numbers is to relate them to the total number of guns sold, to find that over the past 3 years, AR15s now make up nearly 15% of all firearms sold. Additionally, ar15s made up for over 40% of all rifles sold in 2013.

David Hogg: Parkland HS Has Become A Prison; "Hundreds" Of Racist Police
Posted By Tim Hains
On Date March 23, 2018

Marjory Stoneman Douglas student and #NeverAgain activist David Hogg told Axios founder Mike Allen at an event in Washington on Friday that his high school feels "like a prison" since the shooting last month, with "hundreds of police officers" patrolling the campus.
Liberty vs security and all that jazz

ALLEN: “One more about school. You mentioned your backpack. What do they do with your backpacks?”
HOGG: “I think after we come back from spring break, they are requiring all of us to have clear backpacks. One of the other important things to realize is many students want their privacy. There are many, for example, females in our school that when they go through their menstrual cycle, they don’t want people to see their tampons and stuff. It’s unnecessary, it’s embarrassing for a lot of the students and it makes them feel isolated and separated from the rest of American school culture where they’re having essentially their First Amendment rights infringed upon because they can’t freely wear whatever backpack they want regardless of what it is. It has to be a clear backpack. What we should have is just more policies that make sure that these students are feeling safe and secure in their schools and not like they’re being fought against like it’s a prison.”

Isn't that just the worst? having your rights infringed upon like that? Its almost like your in a prison ruled by authorities at that point...

“Parkland Student” wrote:”We want to be safe, not uncomfortable. The only thing that can really have an impact on our safety is gun control."
Actually, infringing on your privacy is a far more effective measure than outlawing some assorted firearms, because people intent on committing crimes don’t obey laws.

Liberty or Security, Choose wisely.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/parkland-s ... -to-march/
CBS News journalists, embedded with survivors of the Parkland, Florida school shooting, take viewers inside the creation of a movement as students turn grief into action in "39 Days", a one-hour documentary to be broadcast March 24, 2018 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
Embedded. Because these little tykes are bravely marching through the desert to Baghdad while the NRA's Republican Guard resists their every move. The country's gone full meme.

This guy is a rather entitled and disrepectful little Pr#@$:
When your old-ass parent is like, ‘I don’t know how to send an iMessage,’ and you’re just like, ‘Give me the fucking phone and let me handle it.’ Sadly, that’s what we have to do with our government; our parents don’t know how to use a fucking democracy, so we have to."

One attorney's opinion:
Parkland students' Manifesto supports laws that would have no effect on gun violence
The number of privately owed guns in the U.S. increased 92% from 185 million in 1993 to 357 million in 2013. Nevertheless, gun homicides declined by 55% over 21 years from 1993 to 2014. If more guns equal more crimes, one would expect the opposite.

A 2007 survey of the United States and Europe revealed a “consistent ... pattern ... more guns equal less murder and other violent crime.”

Student Emma Gonzalez shouted, “They say tougher guns laws do not decrease gun violence. We call B.S.”

They're students for a reason. They still have a lot to learn including emotional appeals are not a substitute facts, data and reason.
