I'm going to be having a synthetic stock sporter barrel Marlin 917 17hmr heading my way. As long as it's up to snuff, I'll look at getting rid of my Marlin 917v which is the bull barrel and wood stock.
The bull barrel is not the bad part (I have a 880sq which is probably the best 22 rifle ever made for the money), it's the giant chunk of lumber. It's shaped all wrong for me. The forearm is too thick to the point it's hard to rest it on a tree trunk & the palm swell is completely lacking for these small girlish hands
Never seen such an accurate gun though, I hope the sporter barrel is half as good. I'll swap out my Rifle Basix trigger and wait for a calm day.
Re: Swapping my Marlin 917 for a...917...
2Your post reminded me of an ad I read on the Texas Gun Trader. The urge to move the rifle was because the stalk and barrow just weren't rite.
Swap them out!
Swap them out!
Puffing up is no substitute for smarts but it's a common home remedy
