.22 ammo shortage

Post by Carl_Spackler »

i've been out of the gun game for awhile now so haven't been keeping up. Is the .22 ammo shortage still going on or is there an abundance now that the Orange Baboon is in office?

Sportsman's Warehouse in Chico has tons of it.

LGS still think there's a shortage based on there prices, big box stores you can find plenty of 22 ammo at decent prices. My last trip to Cabela's I picked up 50 rnd boxes of Blazer (CCI) for 3.99. Wally world had 100 rnd boxes of CCI minimags for 7.99.

I'm having no problem in Portland but the days of a penny a round are never coming back.

Plenty of it around here. Not quite as cheap as it used to be but heading the right direction. Cabela's had a 500 brick of Aguila for I think $24. Not loosely packed either, 10 boxes with plastic frames to keep them from rattling around.

$.04/round is getting more and more common online.

Stock up now while it's cheap.

I can find it, but I agree it's not as cheap as it was. For cheap plinking I'd buy the Federal Value Pack (525) for $18., now it's $30. plus when I can find it. I haven't noticed that big an increase in other caliber prices, don't know what's driving it.

I'd call it "over" but it's now 2x-3x what it was pre-Sandyhook. Except for CCI Mini-Mag, for some reason.

Here in SE PA most Gun stores have the more popular loads in stock. I shoot CCI Mini Mags in my M&P Compact 22. My LGS always have them. What is randomly available is the CCI Stinger and other premium rounds.

It's so cheap and plentiful down here, we use it for landscaping and ballast.

Yep. Carry around several spare boxes to keep my shooting mats in place!

I'm paying about .06 to 07 a round here in Houston and have done so for a year plus.

I have so much .22 LR left from hor.. urr..stock piling while anticipating an HRC panic environment that it will be years before I buy any again. Well you know how that worked out. Paid too much in retrospect. You can’t time the market, I guess :problem:

Same experience in my locale in Oregon: Much more available and significantly lower in cost.

But then, I've still got pre-panic bricks; I'll probably be shooting the stuff when I'm 90. ;)

Stocking up via online vendors (only one actually) over the past year, in anticipation of The Great California Ammo Gouge, @ $0.05/round shipped is the best I've been able to find. It's certainly easy enough to find; it's just not "cheap" and in CA it isn't going to get cheaper. Ever.
