Saturday...a 'cold' front rolled through bringing the temperatures into the low 80s and running off the humidity just in time for a drive to the range. The boy finally shot his birthday Garand, and let dad shoot it as well. There was no Garand thumb to be had but the 'ping' was sooo good! What a sweet shooting gun. Happy that my M2 ball clones work, I get to make (a LOT) more - and even have permission to take the gun back to the range by myself.
The plan was to stop at the pistol line for a few minutes to test some new hand loads (125 gn SWC) and let the boy get some more pistol time without a gaming mouse in between. The light SWC rounds worked well. We switched between the G17 and new to me G19 (thanks again, Jaywalker!). The boy (the one that doesn't give compliments easily) tells me I'm getting better. He is, too. A few rounds on the way out turned into: "Hey - I've got a couple more boxes of ammo here - want to keep going?"
Life is good!
Re: A G(a)rand Range Day
2Sounds like a good time... haven't been to the range in a couple of weeks- got distracted by hunting but it's time to get my butt over there again.
