Let's add to the conspiracy. From the WaPo. Investigators scrutinizing video outside Epstein’s cell find some footage unusable, according to people familiar with the inquiry
At least one camera in the hallway outside the cell where authorities say registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein hanged himself earlier this month had footage that is unusable, although other, clearer footage was captured in the area, according to three people briefed on the evidence gathered earlier this month.

It was not immediately clear why some video footage outside Epstein’s cell is too flawed for investigators to use or what is visible in the usable footage. The incident is being investigated by the FBI and the Justice Department’s inspector general’s office, which are attempting to determine what happened and how to assess whether any policies were violated or crimes committed.

The footage is considered critical to those inquiries, and the revelation of an unusable recording is yet another of the apparent failures inside the Metropolitan Correctional Center, the short-staffed Bureau of Prisons facility in downtown Manhattan that held Epstein.

It’s unclear whether the flaw in the taping affected a limited duration of the footage or whether it was a chronic problem in the beleaguered Manhattan facility.

A Bureau of Prisons spokesman declined to comment, as did spokespeople for the FBI, the Justice Department and the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan.

The people who spoke about the footage did so on the condition of anonymity, citing the ongoing probe.

Why do I find this not to be unexpected.

So was it equipment failure or intentional? Drip, drip, drip ... it doesn't look good for Barr and BOP. Wouldn't be surprised if Donnie uses it as an excuse to start privatizing federal prisons.

Now we find out it wasn't one camera malfunction, but two cameras outside his jail cell.
Two faulty cameras affixed outside the Manhattan jail cell where Jeffrey Epstein died by apparent suicide have been sent to an FBI crime lab in Virginia to be analyzed, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing a law enforcement source.

The Washington Post had reported earlier that at least one camera within view of Epstein’s cell in the Metropolitan Correctional Center had footage that was found to be “unusable.” The paper said Monday it wasn’t clear why the recording was too flawed for investigators to use — but noted that footage from security cameras inside the jail were “considered critical” to the federal probes into Epstein’s Aug. 10 death.

News of the allegedly malfunctioning cameras and unusable footage comes on the heels of several reports of failures and irregularities inside the federal lockup where Epstein was held.

The guards assigned to watch over Epstein allegedly did not check on the prisoner for hours on the night he died ― flouting a rule that requires guards to check on inmates every 30 minutes. The guards, who were both working overtime at the understaffed facility, have also been accused of falling asleep for at least part of that time and falsifying jail logs to cover their tracks.

The FBI and the Justice Department inspector general have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding Epstein’s death ― including why the accused sex trafficker was taken off suicide watch less than a week after he was allegedly found with injuries consistent with a suicide attempt on July 23 and subsequently left alone in his cell.

New York’s chief medical examiner, Barbara Sampson, ruled Epstein’s death a suicide earlier this month. But his lawyers told a Manhattan federal judge at a Tuesday hearing they were skeptical the financier had killed himself.

I'm sure it is just a coincidence. Yup. Lots of coincidences. Nothing to see here.

Look over there... Caravans!

I'm close to jumping on the conspiracy train, not quite there yet

Too many people would want Epstein quiet. No way to know who to believe in conspiracy land. Corruption and wealth always seems to win.

I'll pass on the conspiracy theories.

It's just that equipment not working, random government employees falling asleep on watch, and falsified paperwork sounds like typical government work to me

It would have made more sense to kill Epstein before he got into police custody and before the feds collect all his evidence.
