Oregon man open fires on birthday party because of noise.

An Oregon man has been arrested after he allegedly opened fire on an apartment complex, injuring two, after he became angry about loud children, reports Portland’s KPTV.

The alleged shooter Franklin L. Tomes, became angry about the noise at a children’s birthday party—so he opened fire with an AK-47, unloading 12 rounds and hitting two men.

Both men are expected to survive, but one may lose his foot.

The shooting happened in Newport, a hardscrabble fishing town that is notably obsessed with guns.

After shooting the men, Tomes retreated to his apartment where he sat holed up from the police for five hours. Police eventually talked him out peacefully.

Tomes is in jail on charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and reckless endangering.

At least he wasn’t using an AR15 for the assault rifle. Using an Ak 47 will cause confusion with some of the media. :sarcasm:

It wasn't an "AK-47" either, but it doesn't serve an agenda to report accurately and call it what it is. And had the shooter been using an AR15, it wouldn't be an "assault rifle" either.

On the beautiful Oregon coast. Thankfully no one was killed, hope the mans foot can be saved. Sounds like the shooter was a candidate for a protection order.
Senate Bill 719 narrowly passed the House 31-28, with no support from Republicans and "no" votes by three Democrats. It now heads to Gov. Kate Brown, whose largest 2016 individual campaign donor supports gun safety measures, for her signature.

Under the bill, a judge could issue an "extreme risk protection order" against a person deemed at risk of committing suicide or shooting others. The person would have 24 hours to hand over their guns to law enforcement before having officers take them away.

That's the touristy part. Outside of tourist season, many of the year-round residents are pretty sketchy. Lincoln City, for example, is replete with river rats.
