When he started having other people write his books and stuck his name on it, I was done. Rainbow Six was probably his last decent book, but far from his best, which was probably "Without Remorse".
"Tiamat's Wrath", the newest "Expanse" book comes out this month--next Tuesday or the Tuesday after.

Anyone really believe the elite or 1%'ers would kill the geese laying their golden egg?? They may fuck us over more overtly than now at some time, but they have nothing without us, the consumer, worker, provider of their wealth. If the world hit a SHTF situation, they may have wealth that is worthless, and poverty makes us all equals to an extent.

Can't eat money. When climate-induced food shortages and mass migrations come (and they will come if we don't get our oil addiction under control pronto), there will be a culling. I very much doubt it will be rich people shooting unarmed poor people from their castle walls, but they have the means to control where the food flows, we less so. They will eat. We will be culled by nature.

Beto fills the Democratic model in every area but one:
(to be another Kennedy, Carter, Clinton, Obama)

- He is young and good looking
- He is charismatic to a fault / beyond charming to magnetic
- He is an "ideas" person - a super charged policy wonk
- He excites people with his mix of the above

He has less real experience than any of the aforementioned Democratic role models. Clinton and Carter were both State Governors for a full term. That is perhaps the ideal stepping stone to understanding the "executive" part of the POTUS job. Kennedy was a war-time combat officer (don't kid yourself, it matters) and a Senator. Obama was probably the least qualified of the list - part term State Senator, but he spent most of his Senate career getting elected.

IMO Beto could not do the job.

I'll bet a lot of decent people would help Beto or whoever is the next non-Trump POTUS. I would prefer a governor, but I am not too picky these days. My vote and my state are probably irrelevant compared to a vote in PA, WI, TX, or FL.

Earlier, O’Rourke praised “so many amazing candidates running for president right now,” and he said “it’s a great sign that in some important ways, this democracy still works.”
He added, “Any single Democrat running today … would be far better than the current occupant of the White House.”

Then the primaries become far more important in Georgia. Atlanta and Savannah etc clearly aren't enough to offset the "Deliverance" mountain men types in the general.

Yes, in a way. During the midterms, Dem primary voters sent a slate of female and POC candidates against the white male GOP candidates. They did better than ever before, but still not enough. At least they were worth voting for and not Republican-Lite (in the style of Joe Manchin). GA doesn't have enough electoral college votes to make a big difference, but it is one of the top 10 populous and wealthy states. It will turn blue some day. FL and TX are more important to turn blue.

You are assuming that they need all of us. They don't. As technology and automation advance, they need fewer and fewer of us in order to sustain their lifestyles. Those who aren't needed are being thrown to the wolves already (see Republican proposals to gut welfare programs).

Exactly. The ones they choose to keep will be for whatever pet project they have for their amusement. The elites across the world regardless of the system are solidifying their hold on resources. It’s not going to be a consumer based economy. It’s going to be an economy centered on producing entertainment and sustaining a select few. It’s going to be reality TV 24 hours a day, every aspect of life a game or a challenge. Masses will not be needed. The dots are already here. I’m not going to support a rich elite like Beto and I’m not supporting anyone that wants to neuter the second amendment or any other part of the bill of rights. Someone else may cut my throat but I’ll not do it for them.

This is good. A lot of the ugly warts on all the Dem candidates are coming out a year plus in advance. By 2020, they will be old news and we will have (hopefully) weeded out the weakest candidates.

Also, remember that Rubio wasn't going to run for his old Senate seat... until he was knocked out of the Prez race... then he went back and won his seat. I think Beto is going that route to run for Senate.

Sometimes I forget which gun forum I'm on as the dystopian future rhetoric is the same only the names change - Koch for Soros, Socialist for right wing nuts, etc. Frankly, I don't have a particular favorite at this point - I'm not much in favor of old (Bernie or Biden) and we have a wide field of candidates, that as Beto has said, and I posted earlier - anyone of which is better than the current dick in office (I paraphrase). It's a long way to Nov. 2020, and I expect not one candidate will meet all my wishes. As much as I would hope a candidate would be perfect and I could vote FOR rather than just voting against Turnip would really be nice, but not gonna happen.

Maybe we need to point out the AR-15 is not a weapon of war. Comparing the AR-15 to the M-16 or M4 is like comparing the GM Hummer to the military Humvee. They look similar, but are totally different in functions.
