Fairly soon there will be a lot of subpoenas, but no witnesses or documents. The media is making a big deal of all the subpoenas, but it's the first step of a long process. Mueller likely got a much faster response from his grand jury subpoenas than the House will be getting in its subpoenas. A bit like House members making criminal referrals to DOJ which rarely go anywhere. Again, I hope they are getting the subpoena process fast tracked or they'll miss the 2020 election.

No one is coming to save us. We have to be our own heroes. Vote while you still can. If you live in a deep blue state, contact your legislators and get them to back the Voting Rights Act and other laws that can help us in gerrymandered, voter-suppressed red states.

Let's face facts - outside of an act of god (not in the religious sense - just the essence) we're stuck with DJT the prick until he is voted out of office, chokes on a pretzel or his own bile, stumbles down the steps at Lincoln Memorial on July 4th, cardiac arrest or earth hit by a gigantic asteroid - the last makes it all moot. A stroke won't do it cause no one would know the difference. We are soundly and truly fucked if he wins 2020. I am so very thankful for small blessing (again not in a religious way) that Dems took the House in 2018 or we'd be even further down the shit chute than now.

I agree with that. At some point, some facts may sway some GOP voters or candidates (probably not). Some facts might actually get the 18-30 year olds to vote in large numbers for once.

DJT is a symptom of the GOP and Dem problem today. The GOP is power hungry and white-supremacist centered. The Dems are owned by corporations and banks. The courts are pro-business-first and anti-union & anti-worker. More information can help the future voters decide what they want if we can slow down the authoritarian train. States and a future Congress are the only hope we have left.

Both parties are owned by corporations and big banks on Wall Street. The GOP has been right wing white-supremacy ever since Richard Nixon first ran for the White House in 1960. That is when the Dixiecrats started to become Reptilian and changed the nature of the GOP.

I think the Dixiecrats are just plain proof that it was all about power (financial, political) and ideology (patriarchy, white supremacy) under the guise of religion and other convenient philosophies.

Good news
U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta on Monday ruled that President Donald Trump must abide by a Congressional subpoena for the president’s financial records.

The judge said Trump’s attorneys “have not raised a ‘serious legal question[] going to the merits.'”

Trump has seven days to comply with the subpoena.

Barack Obama-appointed judge Amit P. Mehta's 41-page opinion began by comparing President Trump's concerns about congressional overreach to those of President James Buchanan, asserting that Trump "has taken up the fight of his predecessor." And Mehta acknowledged a high likelihood that any documents obtained by House Democrats would quickly leak, and become partisan political fodder.

"[T]he court is not naïve to reality," Mehta wrote, admitting there "is a chance that some records obtained from Mazars will become public soon after they are produced." Mehta added that he was "well aware that this case involves records concerning the private and business affairs of the President of the United States," dating back to well before he declared his candidacy.

But, Mehta said, Democrats' subpoena fell within established congressional investigative and oversight powers, which generally only require that subpoenas serve some "valid legislative purpose." The judge noted that the probe could uncover conflicts of interest in the White House, as well as potential violations of the Foreign Emoluments Clause or the reporting requirements of The Ethics in Government Act of 1978.

Mehta said he would not stay his ruling pending appeal, despite the risk of permanently compromising Trump's private financial information, in part because of the public's strong interest in Democrats obtaining the records. That means the subpoena will take effect within 7 days unless it is stayed by another court on appeal.

This ruling was issued quickly, hope the DC Circuit issues their ruling equally as fast and of course Donnie will appeal to SCOTUS which they might or might not accept.
