Man released on bond after shooting Black child who rode tricycle through his yard

A Michigan man has been released on bond after shooting a Black child during a dispute about a bicycle.

WJBK-Fox 2 reported that Arnold Daniel's 6-year-old son Colby left his bike in Ryan Le-Nguyen's yard and later returned to retrieve it.

Daniel said that Le-Nguyen confronted his son with a sledgehammer before retreating to his home where he fired a gun through the window, striking Colby in the arm.

"He tried hitting me with a sledgehammer but that's not going to work because I'm too fast. (Then he) got a gun and BOOM shot me right here," Colby later told Fox 2.

The boy was rushed to the hospital where doctors said that Colby would have died if the bullet had hit him one inch in either direction.

Colby is expected to fully recover.

Le-Nguyen was arrested by the Washtenaw County Sheriff's office and charged with assault with intent to murder. He was later released on $10,000 bond.

Colby's father said he is angry about Le-Nguyen's release.

"I'm trying to figure out he got a bond so low for trying to kill my kid," Daniel wondered. "I'm scared for my family because I don't know what he's capable of."

What would be the bail if it had been a white child?

Daniel [boys father] said the doctor told him that had the bullet been an inch in either direction it likely would have killed Coby.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff arrested the neighbor, who was identified as Ryan Le-Nguyen. He was charged with assault with intent to murder.
The judge gave him a $10,000 cash bond, which he made on Tuesday and was picked up by a family member. He was ordered not to return home but Daniel says that's little solace.
The prosecutor's office told FOX 2 that they were shocked by the low bond and requested $100,000. An emergency motion to raise the bond has been filed.

Agree 100% but I'd like to see a poll on how many IDIOTS own guns. I have no answers but LOTS of guns in the hands of people that 'probably' shouldn't have them..the above is a great example..sledge hammer then gun..against a 6 year old? YT is lousy with videos of people being stupid with guns...

A man is back behind bars after community outcry over his release on a $10,000 bail for allegedly shooting a 6-year-old boy.

Ryan Le-Nguyen is back in custody after his bail was increased to $100,000 during a hearing Thursday, Eli Savit, Washtenaw County prosecuting attorney told USA TODAY.

I'd guess it's the same amount that shouldn't have cars, shouldn't have children, shouldn't vote, shouldn't be put in charge of anything..... With Freedom there is Free-Dumb.

I got the NextDoor app a couple of years ago and it really opened my eyes to those who revel in their ignorance and are quite happy to spout off about it. I just keep telling myself that I don't really know if those on the app are a true representation of the community and idiots are often more vocal. Also intelligent people can be ignorant, or say stupid things, on a variety of subjects.

We have that app too, and it is astounding what people freely admit thereon. It does make one wonder how some people simply survive.

Let's see...a non-White person shooting a White child? That's easily $250K bail there. If the shooter had been Black and the child White, that would've been a SWAT team breaking into the home filling the shooter with at least a magazine full of 5.56 NATO for each officer.

Good to see the bail went up to $100K for this Ryan Le-Nguyen jerk, though, who shot this 6-year-old child. And over a bicycle on his lawn?? Since when was that supposed to be a "hangin'" offense? This guy should be tried for attempted murder.
