The deal is, if you want my vote listen to what I want. There’s always a null vote. These assholes need to learn. I won’t vote or give money to people wanting to make me a felon. It doesn’t matter who is electable, it’s a matter of voting for your principles. Who ever thought that trump was electable. I didn’t and held my nose to vote for hillary.

A null vote is a wasted vote, as wasted as a vote for someone who has no chance of getting elected.

In a binary race there is only two choices, vote for the lesser evil or you support the more evil.

No, it’s many issues including his agenda is corporatist and I’m a green liberal socialist. He has nothing to offer to me. Stop with the one issue painting. You don’t know me.

The two parties only listen to their big donors, it's those donors issues that they run on. They both have millionaires and billionaires that support them and run those parties. Gun rights are more front and center in CA because of our oppressive gun laws, so I'm opposed to the one party that runs CA. Federal elections are different. I'm not a knee jerk supporter of either political party, I look at the candidates and decide.

I'm a left leaning independent. I straddle the middle on many issues that either party would support. or not. I have voted both parties over the years. It became increasingly difficult to vote for the "person" over party in the 90's. Then it became impossible, and the last repub I have ever voted for was Kay Bailey Hutchinson, then she lost me during the Clinton BJ impeachment, and have not once since voted for a repub. My gut has proven I was correct in that decision.
Today we have a nation to save from autocratic fascism. Wasting one vote isn't going to help matters. I admire people standing on one's principals, but now isn't the time. We have to stop this runaway train before it completely derails and destroys this nation. Trumpism has to be stopped. There is nothing ambiguous about that fact.

I agree we have to stop this runaway train. To do so we must also make it clear that playing with civil rights is not acceptable.
By the way one issue voting for me in this instance would be to vote just because someone is not a republican.
Give me a candidate that stands with the people against corporations, stands behind the constitution and bill of rights, stands for equality, living wage, and a universal healthcare system, that candidate will get my vote. Doesn’t even need to be a socialist.

Unfortunately almost every federal electoral choice in the US is a binary decision. And until Citizens United gets overturned there is little hope that will not continue as the only choices.

Over the next eight years it is likely that three or more Supreme Court members will get replaced and there will be literally hundreds of Federal Judgeships filled.

Right now there is a growing polarization between those who want an autocratic led government and those who really would like to see democracy even in its messy form prevail. In addition one of the two parties is clearly not just full corporatism but also clearly racist in nature and purpose.

The issue each of us must face is whether or not we can risk the latter party being the body that fills those judgeships.

Election conspiracy theorists are rallying behind these far-right MAGA Republicans in Michigan

When the Michigan Republican Party held its convention in Grand Rapids on Saturday, April 23, two of the far-right “Stop the Steal” extremists who were featured were Matt DePerno (who is running for Michigan attorney general) and Michigan secretary of state candidate Kristina Karamo — both of whom former President Donald Trump has endorsed. Never Trump conservative Amanda Carpenter, in an article published by The Bulwark on April 25, warns that democracy will suffer in Michigan if either DePerno or Karamo is elected in the 2022 midterms.

“Reasonable people would have to hope DePerno and Karamo get blown out in the general election and are never heard from again,” Carpenter argues. “Their outlandish insistence that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump has led to considerable fractures within the Michigan Republican Party. As such, they’re viewed as longshots who will be unable to unite the party, win over independents, and beat the incumbent Democrats, Attorney General Dana Nessel and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.”

Carpenter continues, “That said, DePerno and Karamo were never really considered serious candidates, yet they managed to clinch their races, thanks to Trump’s backing. And in a midterm year in which Democrats are struggling nationally, it would be unwise to write off any of these races.”

DePerno and Karamo, Carpenter notes, “became ‘Stop the Steal’ stars in the contentious period after November 3, 2020, making a name for themselves in MAGA circles.”

“Unlike in most other states, Michigan Republicans choose their candidates for down-ballot races through an ‘endorsement convention’ for party delegates rather than a primary election for voters,” Carpenter explains. “It was that endorsement convention that was held in Grand Rapids this weekend. Pending any major event, DePerno and Karamo will receive the party’s formal nominations in August.”

At the Michigan GOP convention on April 23, one of the MAGA Republicans who endorsed DePerno was far-right conspiracy theorist and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell. DePerno, like Karamo, continues to relentlessly promote the Big Lie, falsely claiming that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from Trump — and he has promised to jail Democratic Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, if elected, for being a part of that conspiracy. Nessel, of course, did no such thing.

Marxist AG Nessel said "if I am replaced by Matthew DePerno, democracy falls in Michigan. Not maybe. Not possibly. Certainly." Karamo is as unhinged as DePerno. Carpenter notes that Karamo “supported Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s efforts to cancel votes in the swing states Trump lost; said it was ‘Antifa posing as Trump supporters’ who were responsible for the violence on January 6th; attended a QAnon convention; and went to Arizona to support ‘audit’ leaders such as Wendy Rogers.”

Carpenter writes, “This, mind you, is the person Republicans want to be Michigan’s top elections official…. Michigan Democrats are eager to point to Karamo’s comments that police officers and others who testified to the House January 6th Committee were ‘actors and actresses,’ that Republicans who don’t support her are ‘traitors,’ and that Democrats are ‘Satanic.’”

According to Carpenter, dismissing DePerno and Karamo as “flukes” is dangerous because “Michigan Republicans sought them out and supported them precisely because of their ideas.”

“If one MAGA conspiracy theorist were to occupy the state’s highest law enforcement office and another were the state’s top elections official, it’s easy to imagine Republican electoral losses being overturned,” Carpenter warns. “The fix would be in.”

The federal prosecutions of Cliven and Ammon Bundy also collapsed. Cliven was prosecuted in NV, Ammon in OR and the supposed "kidnappers" in MI. The FBI and federal prosecutors have some problems.

Got my June 7th CA Primary ballot in the mail today, received the state voter guide earlier. I'll be spending the weekend filling it out, I can see already there will be blanks or third party votes for many offices. I'll drop in the voter drop box near the town hall on Monday.

Earlier this year, Democratic leaders in New York made a brazen gamble: With the national party’s blessing, they created a congressional map that promised its candidates as many as three additional House seats. On Monday, three weeks after the state’s highest court declared the Democrats’ map unconstitutional, it became clear just how spectacularly the party’s gambit had backfired.

A new slate of new congressional districts unveiled by the courts on Monday could pave the way for Republicans to make gains in this year’s critical midterm elections, a disastrous reversal for Democrats in a state where they control every lever of power. The new lines even cast the future of several long-tenured, powerful Democratic incumbents in doubt, forcing several to potentially run against one another.
Mr. Wasserman put the handicapping at 15 safely Democratic seats, five safely Republican seats and a half-dozen tossups in a state where roughly 60 percent of voters supported President Biden.

The map approved by the State Legislature, where Democrats control both houses, this year would have given their party a clear advantage in 22 of 26 districts. Democrats hold 19 seats on the existing map, which was also drawn by a court-appointed special master a decade ago.

So, we talk of certain specific rights like guns and abortion while tax cuts for the rich remain even as corporatists float ideas like gutting Medicare and sunsetting Social Security, while talking out of one side of its face about limiting fossil fuels yet taking its money, voting down climate legislation.

Dark on TV. Trailing badly in polls. Written off by Republican political insiders nationally and in Georgia. Former Sen. David Perdue’s once-spirited primary challenge to Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp appears to be sputtering in the homestretch ahead of Tuesday’s vote.

Even the man who recruited Perdue to run against Kemp — former President Donald Trump — seems to have given his campaign up for dead, said three Republicans who have spoken to Trump. They say Trump has groused about what he believes is a lackluster campaign effort from Perdue.
It’s a bitter dynamic for Trump, who has made his nationwide endorsements a sign of his influence in the party and part of his implicit case to be the GOP’s presidential nominee in 2024.

Trump has crusaded against Kemp after he refused to help him overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia, which helped cost him re-election. Now voters there, many of whom have grown weary of Trump’s involvement in the state GOP, could reject Perdue, as well as other statewide candidates he has endorsed. A notable exception: former football star Herschel Walker, who’s set for a big Senate primary win Tuesday and who was recruited by Trump.

“At the end of the day, Donald Trump doesn’t care about David Perdue winning. He just cared about Brian Kemp losing,” said Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, a Republican who chose not to run for re-election and incurred Trump’s wrath for defending the state’s 2020 election. “And that was a very shallow attempt at trying to unseat a perfectly fit conservative governor.
Meanwhile, Kemp leads Perdue by 60 percent to 28 percent in a Georgia Republican survey conducted for Fox News that was released Wednesday. Kemp’s most recent internal campaign survey suggests similar results, said two sources who have seen the polling but weren’t authorized to discuss it publicly.

Expecting change by voting for a party and candidates that don’t represent one’s positions tells me a lot as well. Vote your conscience and don’t condemn others for expressing their views. If you do that tells me you’re a fascist.

I think voting is the ticket to legitimate gripe sessions. No vote, well, nah. I think George Carlin was too cynical when he said not to vote because it only encourages them.

I gripe, therefore I am.
