It should be a wake up for Boebert, that a different Democrat could defeat her next time. She only won by 551 votes.

There are still 5 House seats to be decided, 4 are in CA and 3 of them lean Republican and 2 lean Democrat.

The House will likely end up with 222 Republicans to 213 Democrats. Republicans flipped 18 seats and Democrats flipped 6 and the popular vote was 50.8% Republican to 47.6% Democrat. Not a wave for Republicans - that would have been 240-260 seats, so it will be a rocky two years for McCarthy if he survives as speaker.
No guarantee McCarthy will be speaker..He needs 218 GOPathetic votes, and over 2 dozen didn't back him in the GOP House nomination process. I guess Dems can't vote for speaker? Be keen if they could and back somebody else.

I think Frisch is totally wrong to concede. No Republican would concede if it was that close, and the State pays for the recount since the difference is MUCH less than the threshold <0.5%. It's cowardly to cede to a monster like that little See You Next TIme when there's even the SLIGHTEST chance of prevailing.

We can wonder how many of the Republicans will vote with the Democrats on various issues, especially as TOS and his ilk go down the tubes, as the public becomes more aware of what comes out about their dealings? We will always have the likes of MTG, Boebert, Gaetz, and other various representatives and senators in congress that are running for the Louie Gohmert award as the dumbest person in congress. Just remember they are a reflection of the majority of people voting in their district/state.

Recounts generally do not reverse election results. Perhaps the first step to better elections is to not contest every result. Someone has to be the first adult in the room.

A neutered Red House against a Blue Senate and Blue President sounds like an excellent balance of power for those politicians who are skilled at horse-trading to craft bills that pass. Unfortunately many are tax cuts for the rich but every so often something squeaks by that help average Americans.

Arizona official goes into hiding over escalating death threats

As Republican Kari Lake refuses to concede she lost the Arizona governor's race and Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich investigates unsubstantiated allegations of voter fraud, the GOP chairman of the Maricopa Board of Supervisors has gone into hiding.

"Maricopa County Supervisor Bill Gates confirmed on Sunday that he was transferred (to an undisclosed location) and provided a security detail after workers at the Arizona county elections office faced months of escalating death threats that made it increasingly difficult to do their job," The Daily Beast reported. "Gates, a Republican, has faced particular backlash as a vocal critic of false election claims spurred by Trump’s election denialism in 2020."

The top lawyer for the county has also reported feeling threatened by an RNC attorney working with Lake's campaign.

Anyone voting or working for these assholes are guilty by association of threats of violence against public officials.
Kari Lake should be held accountable.

Statute, it's a crime to threaten or intimidate violence; it's also illegal to threaten serious property damage. Threatening or Intimidating, under ARS 13-1202, is a serious offense that can be charged as either a misdemeanor or felony.

The AZ AG is apparently investigating the threats. Mark Brnovich the AG was a member of the state canvassing board with the governor, SOS and chief justice who certified the AZ 2020 election for Biden, three of the four members of that board were Republican. The US Atty and the FBI should also investigate and file charges if warranted, especially since reports are these suspects crossed state lines.

Gates was front and center at the daily news conferences defending county elections staff and knocking down the crazy rumors that were spreading. I thought that was the right thing for him to do as chair of the county board, regardless of your party affiliation you support and defend your staff.

No kidding. These fucking Trump cultists need learn that LARPing as Brownshirts is no joke.
Dig it. That is something I'm a bit concerned about -- caravans of MAGA action figure actors w/ rifles rolling through the streets or near the polls. Doesn't keep me up at night-- yet-- because I live in Tinseltown... doesn't seem likely, but the fact that it even might be vaguely possible here, and is actually happening in states that I'm very fond of, is deeply disturbing. I love Arizona, spent a summer there as a kid, and enjoyed every time I ever visited.

Super bummed that Valadao won in the Central Valley.

In happier news, last I checked-- and I think this info is a few hours old-- Warnock was up 4 points.

Re: 2022 Midterm Elections

Yup it appears there is just one poll and yes Warnock is at +4, but the margin of error of the poll is 4.4 so it's a tossup. Hope we see more polling before December 6th.

As SRW said Republican David Valadao won in his redrawn Central Valley district. He was another Republican who voted for Trump's second impeachment and he survived the primary and now won reelection. The 3rd CA district also went Republican, it has a long border with Nevada.

Two elections yet to call, the Alaska at large district which a Democrat won in a special election and because of rank choice voting, elections officials are still determining the winner. There is enough Republican votes to overcome the Democratic candidate and there is an independent in the race, we have to wait and see. And the 13th district in CA hasn't been called, the Republican candidate leads by about 600 votes.

Right now the House is 221 Republicans and 212 Democrats and 2 races to call.

Republicans won the house, by a nose. This was not a win for democratic party positions as it was a repudiation of trump.
