Former President Donald Trump said Saturday he expects to be arrested in connection with the investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney next week and called for protests as New York law enforcement prepares for a possible indictment.

In a social media post on Saturday, Trump, referring to himself, said the “leading Republican candidate and former president of the United States will be arrested on Tuesday of next week.”

“Protest, take our nation back,” he wrote.
A spokesperson for Trump said Saturday that the former President has not received a notification from the Manhattan District Attorney’s office regarding any potential indictment, but was “rightfully highlighting his innocence” in his post. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office declined to comment on Saturday.
Trump’s US Secret Service detail would deliver him to the Manhattan district attorney’s office for fingerprinting and then taking mugshots in offices of the district attorney’s detective squad. As is customary in cases where a defendant is allowed to voluntarily surrender, after arrest processing, the former president would be brought directly to an arraignment before a judge where he would likely be released on his own recognizance.

What if they did him on Monday, to preempt the idiocy? Inquiring minds and all that. If the foolish red hats try to blockade him inside Merde-a-Lardo, then the way to beat that is to blockade the blockaders and let them starve. It's a time honored strategy that never failed. Trump picked Tuesday because that's what the media has been saying. Apparently he hasn't been told that he's been indicted and has to turn himself in on Tuesday, but it's all about him and encouraging big protests. Maybe he thinks huge protests will keep the NY County grand jury from indicting him.
With a Manhattan grand jury indictment likely but its timing unclear, Donald J. Trump sought to rally supporters to his side, declaring that he would be arrested on Tuesday and calling for protests.

Mr. Trump made the declaration on his site, Truth Social, at 7:26 a.m. on Saturday in a post that ended with, “THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE AND FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”

Two hours later, a spokesman issued a statement saying that Mr. Trump had not written his post with direct knowledge of the timing of any arrest, adding, “President Trump is rightfully highlighting his innocence and the weaponization of our injustice system.”
Prosecutors working for Mr. Bragg have signaled that an indictment of Mr. Trump could be imminent. But they have not told Mr. Trump’s lawyers when the charges — expected to stem from a 2016 hush money payment to a porn star — would be sought or an arrest made, people with knowledge of the matter said. At least one more witness is expected to testify in front of the grand jury, which could delay an indictment, the people said.

One of the people said that even if the grand jury were to vote to indict the former president on Monday, a Tuesday surrender was unlikely, given the need to arrange timing, travel and other logistics.

Reality is that a lot of his supporters saw what happened after Trump encouraged people on J6 and they don't want to lose everything for Trump. And it's New York, not a bastion of Trump supporters. And there is the Federal Anti-Riot Act

On her final day as the top judge in the District of Columbia on Friday afternoon—in her final act—Chief Judge Beryl A. Howell did more than grant the Justice Department permission to question former President Donald Trump’s personal attorney. She actually took the rare step of handing over the lawyer’s notes to federal prosecutors, according to a person familiar with the arrangement. In doing so, Howell may have planted the seeds for a future constitutional challenge. But in the immediate term, she’s handed Justice Department Special Prosecutor Jack Smith a parting gift: what she deemed evidence of a crime involving the former president improperly hoarding classified documents after he left office.

M. Evan Corcoran, a former federal prosecutor, has represented Trump in that classified documents scandal. And while Corcoran already has his hands full as Trump’s lawyer, the probe now appears to have put Corcoran in legal jeopardy himself. According to a source, Corcoran’s professional notes about private communications with his client were turned over to Judge Howell, who was conducting an “in camera review”—a carefully controlled screening of confidential records that typically takes place in a judge’s chambers.

Judges who come to the conclusion that some legally protected and sensitive material must be turned over to an opposing side normally issue an order directing one side to do it, along with a deadline. Doing so gives the losing side the ability to appeal to a higher court—and prevent irreversible damage that could forever taint a case, according to two lawyers not involved in the case who spoke to The Daily Beast but asked not to be identified.

But Howell appears to have skipped that careful yet tedious approach—and just handed Smith a batch of documents that may show Trump and one of his lawyers planning a crime.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Sunday he wants no protests or violence if former President Trump is indicted or arrested. Media reports and the former president's own comments signal that an indictment from the Manhattan district attorney's office could be imminent, with Trump urging supporters to "[p]rotest, take our nation back!" At a press conference to kick off House Republicans' annual retreat in Orlando, Florida, McCarthy told reporters: "I don't think people should protest this, no." "Nobody should harm one another in this. ... We want calmness out there," McCarthy said. "I do not believe there should be any violence [in response] to this."
McCarthy joins a surprising hardline House Republican also discouraging protests — Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.). "We don't need to protest," Greene tweeted on Saturday, arguing that Democrats are "sealing their own fate" in the 2024 election if Trump is indicted.

Nobody listens to Kevin McCarthy, certainly not his own party members. Not sure they even recognize that he is Speaker of The House, and not Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Cheater of the House (and her own).

If the presiding judge thinks Trump is inciting another violent insurrection, he could refuse to release him (but that won't happen) or put sanctions on him like seizing his passport, forcing him to wear an ankle bracelet, etc. The problem is too many NYC cops think the world of Trump and HATE Democrats--remember them all turning their backs on DeBlasio?

Current NYC mayor Eric Adams was a former police captain and borough president. He recognized correctly that crime was an important issue for NYC voters and that helped him get elected. I like to watch Chicago politics because I have relations there, race is always a factor. Chicago is in the midst of a mayoral run off between a Greek-American candidate and an Afro-American candidate, the Hispanic-American candidate lost in the mayoral election, so candidates are jockeying for endorsements. Both mayoral candidates are Democrats, but one is progressive and one is centrist, one talked in the past of defunding he police, the other has the support of CPD members. April 4th is the run off election.

A Manhattan grand jury that is expected to vote soon on whether to indict Donald J. Trump may hear testimony Monday attacking the prosecution’s star witness, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The testimony would come from a lawyer, Robert J. Costello, who would appear at the request of Mr. Trump’s lawyers, the people said. Mr. Costello was once a legal adviser to Michael D. Cohen, Mr. Trump’s former fixer, who has been a key witness for the Manhattan district attorney’s office. Mr. Costello and Mr. Cohen had a falling out, and Mr. Costello would appear solely to undermine Mr. Cohen’s credibility, the people said.

Under New York law, a person who is expected to be indicted can request that a witness appear on his or her behalf. Mr. Trump’s lawyers have asked that Mr. Costello testify, but the final decision rests with the grand jury; it is unclear whether they have made a decision. The grand jury has been hearing evidence about the former president’s involvement in a hush money payment to a porn star. Mr. Costello’s appearance would come soon after Mr. Cohen concluded his own grand jury testimony. If Mr. Costello testifies, there is also a chance that Mr. Cohen will be asked to return to rebut some of Mr. Costello’s assertions. A spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office declined to comment, as did Mr. Costello. A lawyer for Mr. Cohen, Lanny J. Davis, declined to comment.

The district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, a Democrat, is expected to seek an indictment of Mr. Trump as soon as this week. There have been several signals that charges may be imminent: The prosecutors gave Mr. Trump an opportunity to testify, a right given to people who will soon face indictment. They have now questioned nearly every major player in the hush money saga in front of the grand jury.

Attorneys for Donald Trump Monday morning filed a sweeping 483-page legal motion asking a Georgia court to block any report from the Fulton County special grand jury and any evidence the grand jury may find, and to force District Attorney Fani Willis to recuse in the investigation into his unlawful attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in that state.

Barricades arrived outside the Manhattan Criminal Court Monday morning as New York City braces for potential charges against former President Trump, who warned over the weekend that he could be arrested as soon as Tuesday in relation to a hush-money probe.

Workers were seen unloading steel barricades from a New York Police Department truck, stacking them outside the courthouse and the Manhattan district attorney’s offices in lower Manhattan.

NBC New York reported over the weekend that local, state and federal law enforcement were readying for a possible indictment for the former president, considering security around the Manhattan Criminal Court in the event that Trump is charged.

Three House Republican committee chairmen sent Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg a letter Monday requesting he testify before Congress "about what plainly appears to be a politically motivated prosecutorial decision" in any potential indictment of former President Donald Trump in the prosecutor's hush money probe.

"You are reportedly about to engage in an unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority: the indictment of a former president of the United States and current declared candidate for that office," the letter said. The letter was signed by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio; House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky.; and House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil, R-Wis.

The letter is not a subpoena, but it marks the first investigatory action from the committees after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., promised to scrutinize the people who have been investigating Trump.

Bragg could decline or send someone to state that this is an ongoing legal matter and they can't comment. Even after the grand jury decides, there is still a trial and appeals after that. Supposedly the House chairmen will also ask Fani Willis of GA and Jack Lynch of DOJ to also testify.

The drama about inciting riots as a backlash to indictment has me seriously concerned. But I've dusted off a good bottle of Scotch to celebrate if they go through with it. Promised myself I'd crack it open when he left office, but after January 6th the goalposts moved to death by natural causes or indictment. I'm not counting on conviction.

It is increasingly clear to me that conservatism in America has never been about law and order - just about using the law to order around other people who don't fit into the privileged demographics. Ulysses S. Grant had no problem going in front of a judge to face justice like any other American. It's well past time every politician and judge was held to the exact same standards.

Apparently, Bragg is setting TOS up for the far more serious charge of witness tampering and obstruction of Justice. That's why having Robert Costello testify before the Grand Jury yesterday was about the dumbest idea his incompetent attorneys could have come up with, because Cohen's testimony has documentary support, and Costello's doesn't. He may have put himself in legal jeopardy for perjury, as well!

In a last-ditch effort to stave off the indictment of Donald J. Trump, a witness on Monday appeared before a Manhattan grand jury at the request of the former president’s lawyers, providing testimony aimed at attacking the credibility of the prosecution’s star witness. The man who testified, Robert J. Costello, who was once a legal adviser to Michael D. Cohen, the crucial witness for the Manhattan district attorney’s office in its investigation of Mr. Trump. Mr. Cohen, Mr. Trump’s former fixer, has already spent hours testifying before the grand jury.

Mr. Costello and Mr. Cohen had a falling out a few years ago, and Mr. Trump’s lawyers hoped that Mr. Costello’s grand jury appearance on Monday would undercut Mr. Cohen’s testimony. Under New York law, a person who prosecutors expect to indict can request that a witness appear on his or her behalf. The final decision to hear the witness rests with the grand jury.
The testimony lasted more than two hours, he said, and was at times hostile. Addressing Mr. Cohen’s credibility, he said, “I told the grand jury that this guy couldn't tell the truth if you put a gun to his head.” Prosecutors had summoned Mr. Cohen to the courthouse where the grand jury meets, thinking he might be useful in rebutting Mr. Costello’s testimony. They did not call him into the grand jury on Monday, however, and it is unclear if Mr. Cohen could be called back later in the week.

“Mr. Cohen was available for over two hours today, but we are pleased to report Mr. Cohen was not needed,” his lawyer, Lanny J. Davis, said in a text message. He added: “Once again we repeat — the facts and documents speak for themselves. Facts do matter.” The grand jury, which could indict Mr. Trump as soon as this week, has for weeks been hearing evidence about the former president’s involvement in a hush-money payment to a porn star.

See what I wrote above. Costello may WELL be adding nails to Trump's coffin, inadvertently, of course. Trump tried to plant Costello on Cohen's defense team but by then Cohen's eyes were opened and he wouldn't go near Costello, knowing full well Costello would betray him. I don't know if that comes under any criminal statute.

BTW, Trump's 757 has been sitting idle with mechanical problem that TOS won't/can't pay for, since he neglected it the day he got hold of AF1. Of course, he NEVER pays his bills.

'Somebody' called for a 'support the traitor' protest in NYC yesterday...about 20 people showed up. TRE45ON
So far, at least, Trump’s demands for his supporters to rally around him again have produced anemic results, suggesting his power is waning. When senior reporter for HuffPost Christopher Mathias reported from outside the Manhattan DA’s office, he found that the media there far outnumbered the protesters. “So many reporters here I just saw a reporter start interviewing someone but they turned out to be a reporter too,” he tweeted.
Florida governor Ron DeSantis has his own problems with the whole situation. He wants Trump’s voters but does not want to be saddled with a scenario in which Trump tries to hole up at Mar-a-Lago to resist an indictment in New York. Today, DeSantis said he would not get involved in an extradition order, although Florida law allows him to intervene in a contested extradition.

His lack of support for the former president apparently outraged Trump, who promptly accused DeSantis of sexually assaulting a teenaged boy. The tension between the two Republican leaders has prompted speculation that Trump will fight extradition if only to force DeSantis to choose between alienating Trump’s supporters or kowtowing to the former president. Either would wound his presidential hopes, perhaps fatally.
This is hilarious...trump really is tweeked by deSatan..good. I hope the orange turd does fight extradition..be great drama between these two liars, fascists, homophobes..

Piers Morgan interviewed DeSantis and the gloves came off.
For months, DeSantis has said nothing as Trump’s escalated his verbal attacks on him, branding his ex-protégé “Ron DeSanctimonious” and “Meatball Ron.” On Monday, Trump went nuts after DeSantis took a shot at him over his anticipated indictment over alleged payoffs to ex-lover Stormy Daniels, saying, “I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair.” The inferred morally censorious tone sparked a furious response from Trump, who raged on his own Truth Social platform: “Ron DeSanctimonious will probably find out about FALSE ACCUSATIONS & FAKE STORIES sometime in the future, as he gets older, wiser and better known when he’s unfairly and illegally attacked by a woman, even classmates that are ‘underage’ (or possibly a man!). I’m sure he will want to fight these misfits just like I do!” Trump’s mood is likely to deteriorate further when he hears what DeSantis now says about him in our lengthy interview at the Governor’s Mansion in Tallahassee, the most personal and revealing he’s ever given. It was clear that the governor has had enough of Trump’s constant baiting and felt ready to take him on in what could end up being a ferocious battle for the White House.
DeSantis also slammed Trump’s chaotic, self-obsessed, and divisive management style, saying: “I also think just in terms of my approach to leadership, I get personnel in the Government who have the agenda of the people and share our agenda. You bring your own agenda in you’re gone. We’re just not gonna have that. So, the way we run the Government I think is no daily drama, focus on the big picture and put points on the board and I think that’s something that’s very important.” As for the rude nicknames, he mocked: “I don’t know how to spell the sanctimonious one. I don’t really know what it means, but I kinda like it, it’s long, it’s got a lot of vowels. We’ll go with that, that’s fine. I mean you can call me whatever you want, just as long as you also call me a winner because that’s what we’ve been able to do in Florida, is put a lot of points on the board and really take this State to the next level.”
Until now, DeSantis has never engaged with any of Trump’s regular attempts to provoke him and he doesn’t intend to make a habit of it. “To me, it’s just background noise,” he said. “It’s not important for me to be fighting with people on social media. It’s not accomplishing anything for the people I represent. So, we really just focus on knocking out victories, day after day, and if I got involved in all the under tow I would not be able to be an effective Governor. So, I don’t think it’s something that makes sense for me.” There was a time when DeSantis would have never dared talk this way about Trump whose presidential endorsement of him when he first ran for Governor almost certainly got him over the line in a paper-thin win over Andrew Gillum by just 34,000 votes.
