I've taken a few gun classes and like David Yamane I've never heard what Shapira says he was told in classes. On the contrary, instructors always stressed caution. I'm sure Shapira's version reinforced NY Times readers belief that concealed carriers are crazy and shouldn't have guns. With his article and forthcoming book, Shapira seems to be whoring for anti-gun bucks.

3Why I don't trust qualitative Sociology. It's just someone's opinion on other people.
OTOH, I have respect for quantitative Sociology, that models and tests, statistically, human behavior.
