For a frighteningly large percentage of the voting public truth and factuality are determined by the SOURCE rather than any evidence.

Trump understands that. Ken Paxton understands that. Desantis understands that. MJT understands that. Tubberville understands that.
When a significant proportion of the population is taught from birth that there is only one source of truth, and that source is the church that their parents bore them into, it is hard to deprogram them with facts, evidence, logic or reason.

One of the more interesting takes I have seen on becoming a "successful" autocrat is that no matter how self-serving they are, they succeed because they portray themselves as servants of a higher good shared by those they rule. They may be theocrats, they may be monarchs, they may be demagogues - but they claim to serve the same god, same nation, or same movement as their followers. Sacrifices for the leader are acceptable as they serve the higher purpose.

Purely mercantile oligarchs don't engender the same loyalty because nobody wants to serve somebody else's greed. That's why the scam is necessary.

Donald Trump “is pushing his mug shot, arrests and criminal charges to try to claim new solidarity with Black voters — a group that has largely shunned him in elections”. But his team believes he can make inroads with Black voters by pushing an I-am-a-victim-just-like-you storyline.

“Trump has latched on to a narrative promoted last month by Fox News commentators and others in conservative media — that his arrests could boost his standing among African Americans who believe the criminal justice system is unfair.”

Trump has always played the victim card and tells his followers that they have a right to claim victimhood too, like every other group in America.

'Rock-crusher of a case:' Expert reveals disaster is coming in Trump docs case

News that Donald Trump used the back of documents with classified markings as “scrap paper” to make to-do lists for his executive assistant, and her remarks to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigators that Trump told her, “You don’t know anything about the boxes” of classified documents, is a “rock crusher” revelation and “yet another alleged instance of obstruction” against the ex-president, according to legal experts.

ABC News first reported the revelation that Trump had used the backs of documents with classified markings, that they wound up at Mar-a-Lago, and that an aide, Molly Michael, resigned after her concerns over his refusal to return the documents.

“We didn’t need this piece of proof, but this is an aide to Donald Trump that was saying that she knows firsthand that Donald Trump knew that he had classified information that he should not have had at Mar-a-Lago, that she told him that his claims to the government that you’ve returned, everything would be ‘easily disproved,'” said former top Dept. of Justice official Andrew Weissmann, on MSNBC late Monday afternoon.

“And when Donald Trump learned that she was going to be spoken with by the investigators, she said that Donald Trump told her, ‘you don’t know anything about the boxes.’ So you have not only a first hand witness to the illegal retention of the national defensive information, but you have yet another instance of alleged obstruction of justice, which is lying to investigators.”

Weisssmann adds, “this would make the third instance of obstruction because two are already charged in the indictment.”

Using the back of classified documents as scratch paper sounds just like something TOS would do. The government needs to take all the boxes from Mar A Loco and Bedminster and search them for classified documents with sharpie marks on the back of them.

Pro-Donald Trump lawyer Lin Wood is a “witness for the state” in the Georgia election subversion case, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis revealed Wednesday. The reference to Wood was buried in a new court filing by the DA’s office that raised potential conflicts of interest for six defense attorneys because they previously represented witnesses or other defendants in related proceedings. Wood was previously subpoenaed by prosecutors in the Georgia probe but his status as a witness for the state was not previously known.

“Lin Wood is a witness for the State in the present case,” the court filing says. As a witness, Wood could be subject to cross-examination by his former attorney and co-counsel who is now representing former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark in the Georgia RICO probe – creating a potential conflict of interest.

Wood, a prominent right-wing attorney and election denier, filed a series of meritless lawsuits after then-President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election, which were filled with debunked theories about massive voter fraud that went nowhere in the courts. He was never formally part of the Trump campaign’s legal team, though he promoted the same baseless claims that Trump embraced and could shed light on efforts to upend the election results in Georgia.

I love how Lin Wood, officially listed as a state witness in the RICO case against Drumf & Co., officially not indicted because of his willingness to give witness testimony, is still going around saying he is not a rat bastard (has not flipped) because he doesn’t know enough to matter. Yet the AJC is reporting he confirmed if called to testify he would “be honest and tell them the answers.” It’s so satisfying when a nest of liars turn their compulsion to lie upon themselves and see just how liars can make their own world a living hell. By this I mean Drumf himself must be sitting on his golden throne thumb-typing away manically right now about Lin Wood. The thought of it is just... Mmmmmm.

I wonder how Jr managed to get hacked; has he not heard of 2FA, did he get SIM-swapped, or did his dumbass fall for a simple phishing or MITM attack? Whatever the nature of the breach, it's pretty funny. I hope whoever is responsible managed to exfil with something interesting and didn't just settle for trolling.

Yup Lin Wood is just another sleazy opportunist. He jumped into the Kyle Rittenhouse case and started raising money for extremist causes using Rittenhouse's name. Rittenhouse fired him and his partner,
Rittenhouse said that his attorneys at the time, Wood and John Pierce — who now represents the “QAnon Shaman” — had “started raising funds without my family’s permission” after his arrest. “They went on to fight an extradition [to Wisconsin] using a novel argument, saying I was in a militia so John Pierce can get paid, Lin Wood can get paid and grow his business and profit, apparently,” Rittenhouse said. But they lost that battle, and Rittenhouse was moved from a juvenile facility in Illinois to an adult facility in Wisconsin. According to Rittenhouse, Wood and Pierce were not even aware he’d been moved. He later fired both and hired new legal representation.

Trump lashes out at Republicans and demands they defund prosecutors
Donald Trump on Wednesday put pressure on Republican lawmakers to "defund" any federal prosecution into the former president.

Trump, who is currently facing dozens of felony counts in various jurisdictions, has consistently tried to get those in power to do his bidding. In this case, he sent out an alert to the congressional Republicans.

Trump took to Truth Social, his own social media platform created when he was booted off of most other social sites, to make his pointed request.

"A very important deadline is approaching at the end of the month. Republicans in Congress can and must defund all aspects of Crooked Joe Biden’s weaponized Government that refuses to close the Border, and treats half the Country as Enemies of the State," Trump wrote.

He then added:

"This is also the last chance to defund these political prosecutions against me and other Patriots. They failed on the debt limit, but they must not fail now. Use the power of the purse and defend the Country!"

Trump's N.Y. fraud trial lawyers are in big trouble with the judge: former prosecutor

Reacting to the transcript from a hearing in a New York court room where Judge Arthur F. Engoron harshly criticized lawyers representing Donald Trump in his $250 million fraud trial brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, former prosecutor Glenn Kirschner remarked that the hearing could not have gone worse for the beleaguered legal team.

Appearing on MSNBC with host Jonathan Capehart early Saturday morning, the former federal prosecutor noted the brutal language the judge used in shooting down the attorney's arguments and said there are indications it will only get worse for the former president's lawyers.

"He [Engoron] called those arguments 'borderline frivolous' He was considering sanctions against Donald Trump's attorney," he explained. "And I love this because Trump's attorney argued, with respect to Donald Trump inflating grossly the value of his properties, his attorney said well, judge, he is a master at finding value in his properties where others do not. Translation, my client is a master in the art of deception. I don't think that hearing went all that well for Trump."

He later added, "At every turn Judge Engoron was calling Trump's defense attorneys out on their nonsense and I don't think it is going to get any better for them moving forward."

Any lawyer that is willing to work representing TOS is a fool. TOS doesn’t pay his attorney fees. He opens his yap and spews forth lies and incriminating himself further. I’m just waiting for TOS to fire all his lawyers and say he is going to represent himself, because he knows more about the laws than any lawyer or judge.

I don't think any of his lawyers currently are as stupid as Lin Wood or Sidney Powell. They either KNOW they won't get paid or demand a large upfront non-refundable retainer.

Yup, Wood and Powell seemed to be ideologues first and lawyers second. As Trump's reputation for stiffing contractors has spread, even lawyers he hires are leery of working for him.

1) Get paid up-front. Accept no promises of later payment. And make sure you have an iron-clad contract that bars him from suing you when (not if) he fires you.
2) Expect to be ordered to file frivolous claims that MAY get you sanctioned.
3) Refuse to take illegal and unethical actions and be fired. Then be ready to be sued for return of the retainer. Have that iron-clad contract in hand!
