Jared Kushner's financial ties to Saudi Arabia fall under fresh scrutiny

1
The Senate Finance Committee has launched an investigation into Jared Kushner's overseas business activities.

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR), who chairs the committee, asked Kushner's firm Affinity Partners for details about a $2 billion investment from the Saudi Arabian government’s Public Investment Fund in 2021 and funding from other foreign investors.

“The Saudi PIF’s decision to invest $2 billion in Affinity so soon after Kushner’s departure from the Trump White House raises concerns that the investment was a reward for official actions Kushner took to benefit the Saudi government," Wyden wrote, "including preventing accountability for the Saudi government ordering the brutal murder of journalist and American citizen Jamal Khashoggi."

A panel that screens investments for Saudi Arabia's Sovereign Wealth Fund warned against investing with the inexperienced Kushner, but the full board led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman overruled that recommendation.

Wyden asked Kushner's firm for details about its investments, any fees it has received and how much Kushner has been paid.

“It is deeply concerning that several Middle Eastern governments are using funds managed by Affinity as a means to pay tens of millions of dollars in fees every year to former President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, creating significant conflicts of interest and potential counterintelligence risks," Wyden wrote.

"These arrangements also raise concerns that Affinity’s exclusively foreign-funded private investment funds are being exploited as a loophole by Mr. Kushner and other former U.S. government officials as a means to avoid complying with the Foreign Agents Registration Act and other U.S. laws requiring U.S. persons to disclose payments from foreign governments.”

This is as the Repugs in the Congress go batshit cray over Hunter Biden's overseas financial doings. I wonder how much of Kushner's Saudi money went to TOS, while TOS was President?

It's a presidential election year and Democrats control the Senate and they're investigating Kushner and the Republicans control the House and they're investigating Biden. Kushner and the Saudis smells, just like Hunter Biden and Burisma, foreign governments pay for access to American politicians like the Egyptian government paid Sen Bob Menendez.

It is a case of you picked on TOS and his family so we will pick on Biden’s family
Republicans Refer Hunter And James Biden For Criminal Prosecution In Impeachment Probe

The three alleged false statements, however, center on small-scale aspects of Republicans’ sprawling investigation:

Hunter Biden claimed in his February deposition he had accidentally sent a threatening WhatsApp message in 2017 to the wrong Chinese businessman because he was high or drunk; Republicans pointed to records that “demonstrate conclusively that Hunter Biden made this threat to the intended individual.” The content of the message was the problem, however, since Hunter Biden implied his father would somehow retaliate against the businessman if he didn’t pay.

Hunter Biden denied having a formal role in a company called Rosemont Seneca Bohai, one of several limited liability corporations associated with his business activities. Republicans obtained a document signed by Hunter Biden indicating that he was the company’s corporate secretary. (Hunter Biden’s business partner, Devon Archer, also said Biden had no role in the company, but Archer is not being referred for prosecution.)

James Biden said his brother Joe Biden did not meet with a business associate named Tony Bobulinski at a California hotel in 2017, contrary to testimony from both Bobulinski and Hunter Biden.

The Justice Department is not required to act on criminal referrals from Congress, since law enforcement is not the job of the legislative branch of government.

And yesterday the US House voted to hold Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for failing to turn over the tape of Biden's interview with the special counsel over his handling of classified documents. Republicans want the tape to embarrass Biden before the election. Political revenge for Democrats holding Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress, both were convicted. Stupid political games.
