No rain in my area, but temps dipped into the mid 30s in some areas of my town last night. Low 60s and windy today, but plenty of sunshine. Lingering overcast and fog is rare in my area. More of the same ahead, 40F nights and 50F to 70F days.

We actually got .40 of rain in my immediate area, much more in the mountains just up the road. I really feel as if this is the beginning of the end of fire season. Couple more of these. Still pretty warm, though. I lit the pilot light in the house heater. I will check the gas bill to see if I need to take out a second mortgage this season. He he.

It's expected to be about 70F today in my area. The strong winds return tonight and tomorrow. I have a dental appmt. today and my dentist is 40 miles away, so glad it's not windy as I drive a small car.

The Santa Ana winds have returned and so have the wildfires. The fast moving Mountain Fire in Ventura County north of LA has already burned over 14,000 acres. A lot of evacuations including the National Weather Service office in Ventura.

Hey, we might get 3/4 of an inch of rain this morning, and there's another half inch apparently in the pipeline. That will close the door on fire season up here, so we lucked out this year. The soil will just drink this right up.

No rain in the forecast in my area. Daytime highs have been in the 60s-70s and drop Friday into the 50s daily.

Compared to recent years, we don't have a lot of drought, but the east coast specifically NY-NJ-PA are and are having wildfires. An 18 year old New York park ranger was killed fighting one of the fires.

Rain was falling across the Northeast on Sunday afternoon, bringing a much-needed assist to firefighters battling a major wildfire straddling the border of New Jersey and New York. But the blaze evaded their control and grew to more than 2,500 acres on Sunday, threatening several structures -- including a historic site dating back to the Revolutionary War, officials said. While Saturday marked 42 days without any measurable rainfall in the city of Philadelphia, and the driest streak in New York City history, many cities throughout the Northeast were expecting to see measurable rainfall on Sunday.

The forecast was welcome news to fire crews battling the so-called Jennings Creek Fire that broke out Saturday and burned wildland throughout West Milford in New Jersey's Passaic County and Orange County, New York. But the flames remained 0% contained on Sunday afternoon, Chief Bill Donnelly of the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said at a news conference. And although more rainfall was yet to come, he didn't seem optimistic that it would change the outcome.

Since Oct. 1, New Jersey firefighters have responded to 537 wildfires that have consumed 4,500 acres, including about 40 fires that ignited between Friday and Saturday, according to Donnelly. Forest Ranger Jeremy Oldroyd, of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, said New York fire crews have battled 60 wildfires since Oct. 1, and they have burned 2,100 acres. A New York State Parks and Recreation aid was killed on Saturday helping the battle the Jennings Creek Fire, which is burning in the Sterling Forest State Park, officials said. The deceased parks employee was identified Sunday by the New York State Police as 18-year-old Dariel Vasquez.

Not as big as the wildfires in the West, but a lot of them. The Mountain Fire in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties in CA still rages and the Santa Ana wins return today that could be 50-60 mph. It's burned almost 21,000 acres.

My county to the south is also in that light yellow band, we haven't had any rain since September. It's a La Nina year so warmer temps and less moisture.

Enjoy the rain CDF, put your boots on and go running through the puddles. :)

Sure is nice to have the ground moist. Temps moderately cool. Very nice. We got about a half inch. We're grateful. At least there'll be no dust when I rake the Sycamore leaves. They make my nose run when they're dry.

A little more rain last night. We're about two inches low for a normal season at this date. Locally the weather and the town are colorful and beautiful. I love this time of year. More tiny rain on the horizon, which we will love when it comes down.

Well, now. Starting Tuesday and going for a week, there's a forecast atmospheric river going to dump like eight inches on us in that time. The real danger is in the burn scar areas, and down streams from there. I'll lay in a week's worth of necessary supplies on Monday, because the Celebration Ale will sell out quick.

Stay safe CDF, that's a lot of rain in a short period of time. Hope the city drainage system can handle it. Yes the Park Fire started in your city and covers a huge area, when vegetation has burned there is nothing to hold the water back.

It's 39F in my area and it's supposed to hit 60F today, I'm not optimistic. No rain in the forecast.
