My take on a 'Game Ranger' Para FAL

#1 Post by SubRosa » Sat Aug 31, 2019 9:45 pm

Long time in the build, lots of machinework here. Built on a vintage Coonan receiver.

The pretty wood is from a friend up North, the green Duracoat is by a disabled lady.

The originals of these were built by DS Arms for a South African contract, also known as 'anti-poachers'.

Now to go out to the desert and break it in... :beer2:

Could you clarify for me what the materials of the furniture are? Pistol grip is obvs wood, but is all the rest phenolic/Bakelite?

Neat, I envy you Arizonans you can buy whatever you like.

You and any other LGC member are more than welcome to come here for a fun day or two. I'll buy the beer & bullets. :drunklep:

My collection is somewhat limited, but broad enough to please most any shooter.

The forend and grip are English Walnut w/golden oak stain & tung oil. The buttstock tube is an overtube I made out of Garolite, an industrial plastic. It matches the wooden bit nicely.

I need to make up the proper mount for my red dot yet.
