Stupid illogical movies

Post your own, but I just saw part of the dumbest movie plot I’ve ever seen, “Prom Night 4”. Saw part of this in passing. There’s a killer priest with a sword and the last guy alive runs to some storage area, breaks in to suitcase and finds a revolver and a box of ammo. So he finds the priest about to kill the last gal. He gets the priests attention and the girl escapes. The guy proceeds to load the revolver while trying to escape, on numerous occasions it appears he has several rounds in the gun and a clear opportunity to setup for a shot. Instead he somehow gets on the roof and no ability to see where the priest is in the attic. After the priest starts to stab through the roof with the sword he finally takes shots through the roof not knowing where he is shooting. The priest stabs through the roof and impales the guys foot. The idiot falls off the roof.

I’m thinking, right give me a break, he had a half dozen chances to get a clear shot before he put himself in a position where he had none.

This wasn’t even a “B” movie, it was a “D” movie. :roflmao:

You are desperate for a movie to watch. suggest a trip to the range for some good gun time.

This movie was made for the anti-gun anti-sword Evangelical anti-Catholic people in California or Horny Boys at a drive-in-movie with a date.

I caught the end. Only reason I watched it I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It’s what happens when you’re doing kitchen chores. LoL.

Wish I could head to the range. Still have chores to do.

The thread/post title pretty much describes most every movie on netflix. Whilst there are some worthy of time, I'd venture 90% are pure crap - even those with popular actors in movies I've never heard of and after watching knowing why I never heard of it. The quantity of worthless movies out of Hollywood and from around the world is simply astounding. If not for streaming I'd never had known. My list of "watch next" on netflix of unfinished movies is longer than their main list - I normally depart watching at about 15 minutes in on a bad one, then get angry with myself if I stay to see if it will improve, knowing in my heart of hearts it won't get better. Still, all in all, beats cleaning house hand down!! LOL

Lately I’ve paid more attention to scenes with guns, after recently seeing one of the Dirty Harry movies with a silencer/suppressor on a revolver. No, it wasn’t a Nagant. Hollywood just doesn’t do its homework. It’s no wonder so many in the media are anti-gun.

On another board the subject of really nice guns that were a commercial failure came up. One of my favorites, in fact maybe my favorite 9mm Parabellum handgun is the Star UltraStar and it definitely falls into that category.

Out of curiosity I checked the IMDB (Internet Movie Database) firearms to see if it showed up and yes, it did show up in several movies. I haven't seen any of the movies and actually the only one I've even heard about was the 2006 Casino Royale (I do love the 1967 version of Casino Royale with David Niven as Sir James Bond, Peter Sellers as James Bond and Woody Allen as Jimmy Bond).

So how does that all fit into this topic?

Well, surprisingly the image included in the IMDB entry is of MY UltraStar. No idea how it actually got included but I know I didn't put it there.

It always drives me crazy when the “victim/s” never make sure the bad guy is dead when they (inevitably) temporarily get the better of the bad guy/slasher. If you just knocked the bad guy out with a shovel, why not take the extra 30 seconds to continue to pulverize him (or at least pound him a couple more times?). Whenever I watch a horror movie with my wife or daughter we always remember the motto -never leave an alive serial killer behind you). Lol

If they followed this plot line, all horror movies would be 38 minutes in length before credits rolled !! LOL

In TV and movies, every AK and AR is full auto. Every 12GA has no recoil. Every revolver seems to hold 20 rounds. Every shooter is one-shot one-kill - except bad guys who hit nothing mag dump after mag dump.

Heh heh. Yeah. I fired a handgun for the first time in 2019 and was surprised it actually took practice to hit something. The cowboy with the revolver could always hit the bad guy on the roof down the street with one shot.

All of your above and particularly the "not finishing off the baddy/zombie/ threat further above, also knocking out a bad guy and leaving his weapon and proceeding unarmed.

Another bugbear of mine is continuity, it's so easy to get right yet so many seemingly don't even bother.
Stains on something in view, particularly clothing, that change shape from shot to shot, the level in glasses that go up and down shot to shot.

I can't recall the program, it was Scandi Noir, but a protagonist was aiming his his rifle at a potential victim, eyebrow almost in contact with his scope, finger on the trigger, apparently about to take his shot............and the bolt is open.

My all time favourite hate though is where someone fires a LAWS from inside a vehicle or a room.

Having said that, I must admit to a morbid curiosity to see the results of a real attempt to fire one from a car.

Yep and characters accurately kneecap guys and shoot out the tires of moving vehicles. TV and movies, where artistic license will always trump reality.

I know this is kind of a necro-thread, but I recently watched on Amazon Prime "Without Remorse".

What a piece of shit! It took Tom Clancy's most introspective story of the Jack Ryan saga, about how John Kelly becomes the enigmatic former seal "Mr. Clark" and totally ignored EVERYTHING about the book but the title. OK, I'm good with casting Michael B. Jordan as the Irish-American Kelly, but the story is ridiculous--shooting someone with a silenced M4 from underwater???? The whole plot is nonsensical and reveals that, yet again, Hollywood producers are cowards seeking only to rehash what has worked in other rehashed rehashes of "action movies" rather than being true to the story.

Sure, going from a thick book to a 2 to 2.5 hour movie means some serious editing, like the first Jack Ryan movie "The Hunt for Red October".
But by the time they made "Patriot Games" and "Clear and Present Danger" they were drastically changing to the stories to add fight scenes and shoot-outs, losing the sheer drama and pathos of the endings.

The movie studios ALWAYS think they know what's best, that their audiences are idiots and that the authors' works are nothing more than seeds to be grown. When they did Pride & Prejudice in the mid 30's they mis-cast Greer Garson as Lizzie, added an idiotic horse race and a "clever" scene of Bingley translating the apothecary's words. All garbage.

Similar to "Without Remorse" was when Brocolli decided that Ian Fleming didn't know what he was doing when he wrote "The Spy Who Loved Me" and the movie's only connection to Fleming's book was the title and the character of James Bond. It's one of the most interesting and certainly the most unique of the Bond stories, set in upstate New York in a bungalow colony off-season. No gigantic plans to rob Fort Knox or conquer the world.

I HOPE Amazon doesn't do to the final season of "The Expanse" what it did to "Without Remorse". Or what HBO did to the final 2 seasons of GOT.

Marty McFly: "Seven-Eleven".

Heh heh. Like many others, I'm sure, I had no idea how hard it was to hit things with a handgun till I got one. It looks so easy in the Westerns. Not to mention the high capacity magazines they have on their revolvers.
