Agee that fascism has been normalizing since the Tea Party.

But this new Anglo-centric group within the Republican party makes MAGA seem quaint. This is something that the GOP needs to weed out on its own. The Dems may help but until the Repugs find the spine to stand up against fascism, it will haunt them forever and destroy the foundations of conservatism.

Good luck with that. I’ve seen the roots of this BS since I came to this country in 1968.

Heather Cox Richardson, in her more-or-less-daily series Letters from an American, talks about this, and how the language in the seven-page document announcing the formation of that cabal closely mirrors language used in the late 1850s supporting slavery.

Yes, it's that racist, that venal, and that misguided.

I get the daily email from her, and it's the first thing I read most mornings.

Eventually I'll figure out this signature thing and decide what I want to put here.

Not exactly. There are many of us sporting a sharpened elbow waiting for some shit head to spew. Such a view point did not exist in 1923--which is why my dad's dad took him and the whole family from Germany to America in 1926. The sharp elbow is a real thing among those of us sick and tired of the idiocy we see surrounding the orange spirochete.

I was speaking about those in the state and federal government at that time. Even after 1932 when Hitler and the Nazis were invited into the Cabinet, the likes of VonPapen and some others were assuring Hindenburg the would be able to control the Nazis. But even Hitler needed support to call for elections to dissolve the government and gain control. He got that support from the President of the Reichstag, Hermann Wilhelm Göring . He ruled the Reichstag with an iron fist allowing only what he wanted to further the party's control and his ideas to be passed by ignoring or stifling the other parties.. Doesn't that sound familiar.
