I inherited a few thousand round of .22 a few years back. I have been slowly shooting it up at range sessions with an SA revolver that I sold recently. Upgrading and resetting my menagerie of firearms, I really wanted another .22 to hone skills on the cheap and burning up this old .22 ammunition, most of which is decades old.
And of course I'm addicted to red dot optics now so the first order of business was to shuck the rear sight and mount a Holosun HS507K even before I have shot the pistol. She goes to the range next Friday with 300 rounds of .22 to get sighted in and figured out. Been running the DA/SA trigger for hundreds and now over a thousand cycles to smooth her out. Kinda like this little monster so far but the proof will be in the banging.

I have the SR22, I bought it when it first came out years ago. It's a great little kit gun, throw it in a backpack and you can do some target shooting when hiking. I bought extra mags, it only comes with 2. The SR22 is often confused with Walther's P22 which looks a lot like Walther's P99, a 9 mm semi auto popular with police.

I almost bought the Walther P22 but found as SR22 with 3 mags and free shipping (Talo Exclusive) and grabbed it. Really looking forward to shooting it and seeing if it will digest this old .22 I have. Should be interesting!

I'm kinda tempted by the 75th anniversary Mk IV, but I've got a 22/45 that scratches that itch just fine.

I *really* had my heart set on a Ruger 22/45 but they are illegal in Illinois. But I have some gun curious folks I need to introduce and desperately need to get them started with .22 so I'm hoping the SR22 behaves nicely.

The Ruger Mark IV is back on the CA Gun Roster, so I could purchase it. I too own a 22/45, a Mark III in addition to the SR22 plus other brands so I've got plenty. I thought I wanted a 22 revolver but prices for the S&W 617 and the GP 100 are out of sight and even the S&W 317 Kit Gun is approaching $1000.00. The SR22 is also a kit gun and it's 10 rounds while the 317 is only 8 rounds. I'm happy with what I have.

I can sure burn through the ammo with my Ruger MKII, old as it may be. It still eats everything, like a teenager, then asks for more.

Only the ones with threaded barrels. (lite or tacticool)
Standard models are fine..

Gonna zero the RDO at Friday Range Day today and then bounce a couple hundred rounds thru it - I wasn't really happy with the DA Trigger pull right out of the box but a weeks worth of racking and dry firing, plus real lubrication after a complete cleaning to get all the factory stuff out of it has improved it drastically.
I hope this thing runs pretty well as I really want to like it. We'll see....I have a lot of old .22 LR so today we'll start it/sight it with new premium ammunition and see how she handles the odd/cheap stuff later in todays session. Fingers crossed!

Just noticed there's a fairly recent recall on the SR22. Worth taking a look.

Thanks wooglin, my SR22 serial number falls within the recall.

Mine is in the serial range of the recall as well but she ate 200 rounds of new CCI Mini Mags and ancient .22 LR mixed and never missed a lick.

Should have bought a .22 auto long ago. Too much fun on the cheap. And it was surprisingly clean when I got her home. I'm gonna like this way too much.

Most of the 22 pistols in my safe have 6" barrels, but I agree the SR22 with its 3.5" barrel is a fun little shooter. Glad you're enjoying it.
Mini Mags are terrific. A few years back I'd buy the Federal Value Pack box of close to 1000 rounds which was $18.75, now the Federal Value Pack is 325 rounds and costs $29.99. If ammo manufacturers and firearms manufacturers want to encourage more business from the civilian sector, they should keep prices down.

Yeah, the old farm .22 I shot yesterday is Federal High Power out of a 500 round bulk box - the individual boxes of 50 are marked at .76 cents apiece. So, $1.52 per 100/$15.20 per thousand. Lots of stuff in the storage box. Maybe 10K rounds?
I'm gonna shoot it up bit by bit and replace some of it with newer stuff like the Mini Mags. Sadly, I have a couple thousand rounds of .22 short and nothing to shoot it out of unless I can get the old Garcia Bronco running again. I'm now a .22 lover. Who knew? Got my eyeballs on several Beretta model 87's and that should maybe scratch the itch for a tack driver. Gaad help me......

(noticed you posted on the Beretta forum too, I'm quite active there but under a different handle).
The Beretta 87 is nice, but the 89 is the tack driver. The 89 is quite a step up from the 87, a bit harder to find but prices aren't too different.
I'd bid on a couple of 89's lately, came close but no cigar, but I shifted my focus. S&W Model 41 and higher end 1911 .22 conversions.
That Simpsons 89 would be a real winner. If I was still after one I'd grab it.
