I'm new here but ready to make my first gun purchase. For ethical reasons, I would rather not purchase anything from a manufacturer that supports any right wing activity if possible. I realize that finding any at all may be a tall order, but I figure that if there's any place that might be able to point me in the right direction, it would be here. So thanks for any suggestions.

I would guess that most firearm manufactures support Second Amendment issues. Hopefully support their customers and products. If you're looking for sympathy from the Democratic Party, you will need an electron microscope. You may get plenty of what you're looking for here. Every issue, every person, comes with baggage. Buy fit for purpose. Seek qualified training. Practice safety/security. Learn reloading.

Agreed with papajim2jordan. I would add only that the Second Amendment is not, and never has been, a "right-wing" issue. Rather, it's always been a civil-rights issue, all the way from Harriet Tubman and the Indian Wars, through the Battle of Athens, Tennessee, through the Korean shopowners in Los Angeles in 1991, through the defense of the Black Muslim temple in Dallas, TX in 2015 from White supremacists, to the present day.

So, for ethical reasons, you should support American firearms manufacturers, because they make it possible for you to fight back if you ever need to. And whichever firearm you do end up getting, make sure that the firearm itself is a good fit for your body, whoever manufactures it.

As Remington's ad from a few years ago said quite correctly: "Attention Congress: The world's largest army ain't in China."

I have not seen any political leanings either way from Ruger. I have several Ruger handguns, and they're high quality American made. Also, I've not seen a leaning from Springfield. I have their 1911 A1 Milspec, also a solid high quality American made hand gun.

Yes. Political parties claim to being the keeper and guardian of some subset of rights, and deny us of others. They’ll claim they safeguard our right to breath, if they think us gullible enough. We get worked up debating which party is best, like they are sports teams. Support the team! Baseball teams play by rules. Political parties swing their bats at the umpires.

I think most gun makers care more about the bottom line than they do a specific political affiliation. Sure, they don't like hardware bans. I don't think that's political. It's a business decision.

Yep, Ruger rocks for quality. The company also takes very good care of their customers if there's a problem. I have no experience with Springfield's customer service, but yes, their 1911's are likewise good stuff.

I haven't seen any political leanings from S&W either, now that I think of it. Same goes with Remington and Savage.

Damian, are you looking for a rifle, shotgun, or handgun?

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any gun manufacturers or ammo manufacturers who are right wing activists. They sell firearms to Republicans and Democrats and cities, counties and states that lean towards either party buy products from all of them. The only vaguely political actions that I can think of by gun manufacturers is that many have moved out of blue states in the northeast to more welcoming red states in the south. I'd say it's more the legal climate than political.

OK, so now I've seen a few recommendations for several of the big players as they are supposedly apolitical. I have my suspicions though; I wonder where all the profits are going. Are the owners making any contributions to any organizations other than the NRA that people should be aware of? I suspect they probably are. If I had more time, I'd look into it more, but I was kind of hoping other people may already have done that leg-work and would share their findings here.
